Thailand-Railay-Thaiwand Wall (Day 42)

Since Ram was gone we are now just two so I started talking to the manager at our hotel about a Bungalow and was able to get us Bungalow number 10 for 1,300 baht ($44).  He also told me number 1 and 6 are reserved for guest of honor.  Guess we didn’t make the cut but still stoked on the room upgrade.


It was pretty plain inside but no more climbing down stairs.

It came with a gecko too but this one is outside.

The views have been upgraded though!!!  It is pretty nice from our front porch.  Now if I can just get labeled an honored guest.   

After moving rooms we headed back up to Thaiwand Wall.  I’d read you could do the first two pitches of the King and I (6b+ and 6a) and then rap down using just one rope.

Anja cruised the first pitch to the belay on top of this stalactite. 

The views from up here were great!

I led the second pitch up to this great mini cave belay.

Everything wasn’t great though.  The descent turned out to be a huge pain.  We had to traverse way over to an anchor and then back over having to back clip a lot.  It was maybe more hassle then it was worth.
