We were up early again to head to the Cave of the Apocalypse and the monastery above it.
The amazing views from our balcony.
We walked up the old road to the Cave.
Me stopping wait for everyone to catch up.
Anja, Rick and Linda went ahead on the road the last way and my folks and I continued on the old path as it got worse in condition. It was interesting to walk this path and think of the people who used to only get up and down the island by this means. As we have traveled I have often thought about how different the world would be without petroleum.
The mosaic above the entrance to the Cave of the Apocalypse building.
Down stairs we go.
With some great views of the island below.
Rick, Linda, and Anja had beat us there and caught the last bit of a local communion which they loved participating in from inside the Cave of the Apocalypse.
We headed up to the monastery and it’s treasury which we could not take pictures in. It was an interesting place.
Again great views.
A little building outside the monestary.
Dad and his girl with windmills and the Aegean Sea behind.
The outside of the monastery, it was interesting how I forgot I was inside a fortified castle as we walked around the monastery.
We had lunch at a little place near the monastery.
My folks and I took the really old trail back down to town.
Cool views back up to the monestary.
My folks.
Back at the hotel Anja and I’s room had a huge balcony so we had a little evening on the balcony with everyone with sangria, cheese, and bread.
Of course the dad’s had to play with their electronics my dad with his Sony laptop.
And Rick with his Ipad.
Yum sangria.
Bread and cheese.
And great views. Good times in Greece.
