Flagstaff Bouldering

Ken met up with two college buddies who live in Boulder to boulder after they got off work. The problems were good but a little hard for my current conditioning. This is Kris tring to get started on a reachy problem.

We also did the right side route and undercling fun V0. The Center route was harder than both or just more committing.

On the 28th my parents closed on their foreclosure purchase in Boulder. It will be a fun house. Keith, Jill, Jen, and Jill's dad Joe all helped my parents unload the moving truck. They brought too much stuff with them from Lincoln that they don't need or want and were scolded not to do it again. We anticipate 4 more truck loads of there stuff before they are done.

On the 27th we went for a final walk through of my parents new house before they go to sign the loan papers on the 28th. The house needs a lot of work but it has great views. Good times.

Laura's mom talked Anja into playing the piano at Laura's party and then Laura took a turn for a little while.

Laura's 30th birthday party

We came down to Littleton, CO for Laura's 30th birthday party. Anja and Laura have been friends since childhood and Laura was one of our bridesmaid's.

Boulder Canyon Climbing

Ken leading up the first 5.9 pitch of Staying Alive on Tonnere Tower at 7.6 miles up the canyon. The second pitch was 5.10a with 13 bolts. We are still very confused by the climbing in Boulder Canyon. We'd always heard about the bold climbs of Boulder, well these are not them. we also did the first pitches of Total Eclipse 5.10a, Tag Team 5.10+ and the really great Sidekick 5.10d.

to get to the climbing we did a tyrolean traverse over Boulder Creek. This is Anja's friend Dana she met at The Spot climbing gym.

Mt Sanitas

We went for a hike up Mt Sanitas. About 3 mile loop. Funny we saw signs about bears and at the end of the loop a black bear and cub were rumored to be in the creek and part of the trail was closed.

Anja spent the day working on a project for UCLA. I spent the day building storage racks for the crawl space at Keith and Jill's house.

We went up baseline trail to amphitheater trail to ridge line trail to ranger trail and down Georgy trail. it was a nice loop with some great views. took about 1 hr 45 min. Anja is going to work on stuff for Irvin the rest of the day.

we went on a conditioning hike in Boulder. still feeling out of shape and out of breath quickly at alitude but getting better.

Thunder and lightening have resurfaced, so we used the anchor that we found. The rain stuck around for a while, so we were happy with the bail decision and made it down and home without a problem.

It rained so we traversed left in case a bail off was needed. found a shiney new anchor but now we are not sure if we can head up from here without pulling some roofs.

to get to the sport park we had to cross the creek but there was a nice hand line.

in addition to the two pictured climb we did: dutch oven 5.9, wavy gravy 5.10a tr, monkey bob 5.8, and thre fix 5.11a. Anja loved the fix but didn't think it was 11a but ken couldn't pull the roof move so?

we headed out to go bouldering at morrison, co before Ram has to fly home to LA.

new front brakes

these guys got the rotors machined, new calipers, and pads thrown on in just under 2 hours and finished at 9 pm. cost $384. not bad for that and staying late. cheers guys!
